Basement Shadowman?
#1
I've been wanting to tell you guys about this for months, but my internet (tragically) was turned off... e.e

Anyway.

I was preparing for the haunted house at my school- the money going to some cancer foundation. Anyway, my job was to be the butcher for the "Hell's Kitchen" theme. I realized that I left my makeup downstairs with my pants.

Our basement door is as the end of the kitchen to the right, and when you open it up, you look down a chute of about 8-10 stair steps. Our basement is finished, and so my parents reside to the far right corner of the basement, which is through the right doorway at the foot of the steps. To keep privacy, they set up a boundary of thick blankets. Through the left doorway is our laundry room.

So, I went downstairs, grabbed my nessessarys, and came back upstairs. What happened next was all in a time period of about, I would say, ten seconds. I was looking away as I was about to turn out the light, when I heard a loud BANG! like the dry door slamming shut ( it wasn't on when I checked ). I whirled around to inspect it and found the sillouette of head and shoulders profile peeking around the corner of the laundry room at me.

My first thought was that it must be my own shadow, but when I checked, my shadow had cast all the way down the stairs and onto the blue tote against the wall. This shadow was completely it's own, very tall, and very creepy. It stood out enough that I would have noticed it going down the stairs.

Terrorfied, I flicked off the light, slammed the door, and refused to go down there for the next week.

This happened in late october, aroundabout two days from Halloween. And since then, I have been wondering: Have any of you had any similar experiences? I would love to hear them.

<3~ Spook.

I have...and it was every bit as creepy as you describe. Just those shadows coming out of nowhere...it is pretty scary.

Now yes, there are many things that can cast a shadow that looks human....and basements are often where electrical breaker boxes are...it is possible you were experiencing a "fear cage" effect from high EMF's which can also cause us to see something differently.

I'm really glad your internet is back on and that you wanted to share this experience. Have you or anyone else had other strange experiences there?

Yes, actually. My parents' things frequently get thrown around, and they have reported seeing shadows themselves. My brother, who is seven, claims to see a "man on the ceiling" sometimes in his room- he says he smiles at him with sharp teeth. Sound like something you've seen?

I remember a few times things getting thrown around and shooting across the room. Has anyone thought of setting up a video camera to see if any of it can get caught on video?

I was just mentioning the other day about a very vivid dream I had at my grandmother's house when I was very little. It was of a very grotesque face of a woman embedded into the wall. It was such a clear image, that I can see it to this day...and I was afraid to look at that wall when I was going to sleep at night. I don't know if that could be what happened with your brother..but I do know that those images can be frightening.

Has he ever talked about not being able to move when he sees this face? I have heard about cases of sleep paralysis where some very frightening hallucinations can happen.

That's what I thought it was at first, but he's clearly able to move. He's seen it about three times, and all three times he's seen it he's screamed and ran from his room. It may also be the results of an overactive imagination.

No, they haven't set up a camera. I'll ask them about it tonight.
