there could be many varied weight amounts floating round in books and the net,but believe me when i say you cant possibly weigh the soul..even if you weighed someone before and after death has occured.

As I said earlier, I don't see why the soul should way anything. But I can visualize the soul pulling a certain amount of water vapor along with it as it departs the body, and water vapor does have weight.

I do not believe that the soul - or spirit - can be weighed or measured. It is not a physical things and is not limited or described as a physical thing is.

I agree with you that the soul cannot be weighed, by our common technological understanding of physics. But as to whether the effects of the soul's departure can be measured or recorded, that's another question entirely.

I don't think the whole 21gm'd soul thingymejig is true...

...but I do like the idea of it. Sounds poetic.

My soul would weigh a bit more than 21gms though, 'cos I've just gotta take my memory stick with me....and a nice cup of coffee...oh, and a lock of Brad Pitt's hair :-)

What is this movie? Just wondering if it might be worth watching. As for whether or not a person's soul has a measurable mass, not likely. The soul isn't the same thing as the spirit. The soul, as I understand the term, is the mind, will, and emotions of a living being...(not just a human being)...and the spirit is the bit that is the essential id of that particular being. As whether or not the spirit, or id, has a measurable mass, your guess is as good as mine. :|

The fluids would stay on the scale. This is VERY interesting. Kind of crazy to think about. What would the world do if there was proof that a soul departed upon death?

Has anyone read The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown??? It's his latest book and it's quite relevant to the topic.
A doctor in the book carries out an experiment similar to the 'mice' one and she does record a difference, though it's minute. Well, that's just a theory but it's logic DOES seem undeniable. The books a good read initself too!

What, do you jump on a scale right as you're dying? The weight loss probably comes from the person standing over you taking the money out of your pockets. The more loose change, especially if it is a lot of quarters, the more weight you loose. $$ka-ching$$. Devil Smiley BTW, I don't think your soul weighs anything.
