The teacher who is indeed wise does not bid you to enter the house of his wisdom but rather leads you to the threshold of your mind.

Sleep, those little slices of death. How I loathe them - Edgar Allan Poe...

I've experienced this quite a few times, actually. Always in the same way.

I've seen a shadowghost coming towards me, and my body feels heavier for every step he takes.
I can't move anything, I can't talk and sometimes I can't even breathe cause my chest is too heavy.

The only thing that can get me out of it is gathering all the strength I have from fear of dying, so I can move.

I've even felt this while waiting to fall asleep a few times. I know I was awake, cause I was staying the night over at a friends house, and we were talking until it hapened to me, and I cut in the middle of a sentence or something. It really freaked her out. She even tried slapping me once, but it still wouldn't let go.

Now did you really get that EAP quote from a book or from the opening title card to Nightmare on Elm Street 3? Either way, cool reference.

I too have also seen a shadowy mist watching me as I suffered from sleep paralysis. The best way to come out of it for me has been to focus on moving my feet/toes first, and work my way up from there until feeling has returned to my whole body.

I have no idea where I first found that quote, but I love it Icontexto-emoticons-07-032x032

Its happened to me twice. Once last year and the second was just a few nights ago.
The first, I was 'half in, half out' of deep sleep. I saw 4-5 dark figures standing in my door way. When I looked beside me, there were another 2 standing over me. I wasn't scared but calm. I grabbed my husband's wrist as if to shake him to say - Are you seeing this?? but he didn't wake. I know that I grabbed him..I could feel the hair on his arm. when I looked over to him, he was just laying there..so I layed back down and fell asleep.
The next morning, I asked him he didn't wake and he said, "sweetie, you didn't touch me". He's a light sleeper.
The second time, I woke up choking, gasping for air...struggling and coughing.
Once I got my breathe, I turned over and fell back asleep. the next morning, I asked my husband if he heard me choking and he said I didn't make a sound.
BOTH instances, I don't remember before or after...just that particular moment.

Hi guys I've been having sleep paralysis from the age of 17 and I'm 24 sometimes they go away and often just creep up out of nowhere last night (01/10/2016) I was seeing this massive black butterfly which transformed into a huge tarantula just feels so real. Sometimes the sleep paralysis gets so deep I can't even fight my way out of it, I scream and shout but no one can hear me because it's a dream just no words to explain how terrifying it can be, I've had sleep paralysis experiences where I've been dragged out of bed into the wall, thrown out the window, sexually experience with the old hag could feel her hairs in my mouth when she was kissing me, heard loud foot steps creeping up the stairs which got louder and louder and started running up towards my room. Have heard voices, seen black figures etc has anyone had similar experiences?

I've had this affliction. Fortunately I've never seen anything trying to get me when in this state. It usually happens to me in the early morning hours. I'll be having a nightmare, and I know thats all it is, but I can't force myself awake. I try to call out but I have no voice. I try to move but can't. Sometimes I feel myself floating out of control and there is ALWAYS a sense of unbelievable evil surrounding me. It is a very frightening experience. I'm just glad I don't see evil entities. I don't know if my mind could take it.
Whatever falls from my brain
