"Old Green Eyes" is the name of a "demon" that haunts the bushes in this park, mainly after dark but has also been spoted during the day. The humanoid like creature has glowing green eyes, with fang like teeth. It wears a cape, which is partially hidden by waist length hair or fur. Take your pick. It has been spotted by park Rangers and visitors, near the site of a bloody Civil War battle. In September, 1863, over 35,000 died there over 3 days of fighting, Apparently some of the deceased decided to not to return home and were feasted on by "Old Green Eyes".

That is honestly creepy. And very strange. If there are any old newspapers or writings explaining more about it, I'd love to read them. Nothing sounds creepier than a demon eating someone. I just wonder if he thought the guys tasted like chicken; Honestly.

You'll never take me alive ole green eyes!

Could be a Civil War era rain poncho, or officers cape?

Thank you for reminding me of the name of the battlefield / park. All I could ever remember was "green eyes" battlefield. But from all of my times visiting the location as a child I've never heard that story. I do remember that there were occurrences where you would see what appeared to be a set of green eyes coming towards you if you were lucky enough to be there at dusk or later. which always fascinated us kids because we were always told it was a soldier. Never anything scary. I've been talking to my group about making a trip back down that way, maybe the subject will come back up.

Read about this location years ago in a book of haunted locations.

Subject: I have a black cat.
Believer: Black cats are bad luck.
Non-believer: It's just a cat.
Crackpot: Black cats are part of the New World Order government conspiracy.
Skeptic: I can test if black cats are more or less lucky than another cat.
Cynic: You only have a black cat to gain power and prestige.
