Ever Hear Your Name Whispered On The Wind?
#31
I have had that many times- day, night - home....out & about; I turn and literally say "yah?", & no one is around. I got tired of being scared, so I just (sounds weird- I come up with coping/grounding techniques)... Say in my head "well, ok- if there is something more I need to know that is for my higher good, than please-do so...or go on your way" ...mostly gets quiet. Still not sure what 'it' is? Mine sounds male usually. Perhaps a Guide.....

I know the other night I woke and my bladder was calling - (darn it, nice & warm in bed!) But my husband said "Rowan, the neighbors cat?" So I turned to ask why he was asking about our neighbors feline, but he was snoring. I thought maybe talking in his sleep-but I just learned the cats name & hadn't told my husb yet! So.....the same ole .."if this is something I need to pay attention too-make it peacefully clear, or its time for this presence to leave" ..no more of the cat. Or anymore chills up my neck(common w/voice experiences). I would love to really understand 'why and what' this type experience is~

I hear my name being called when I'm in the shower and sometimes I also hear the doorbell ring too... even when I'm alone in the house and nobody is outside...

I only mention this because the white noise of of the shower is known to induce apophenia (audio pareidolia) in many or most people... and the white noise from the shower can be similar to the white noise cause by wind.

Yes, doorbell ringing or phone ringing is the most common apophenia heard in the shower due to water causing white noise and harmonics produced by the surfaces of a shower or bathtub. I understand this doesn't explain everyone having an experience but people should be aware that is extremely common.

Subject: I have a black cat.
Believer: Black cats are bad luck.
Non-believer: It's just a cat.
Crackpot: Black cats are part of the New World Order government conspiracy.
Skeptic: I can test if black cats are more or less lucky than another cat.
Cynic: You only have a black cat to gain power and prestige.

Yes! It’s often when I’m lost in thought so it snaps me back into reality since it forces me to stop what i’m doing and wonder if i hear that correctly. Smiley ?
The woods are lovely, dark, and deep but I have promises to keep and miles to go before I sleep.

I've been experiencing this off and on for close to eight years now.

It started just before high school graduation, continued through boot camp and deployments, though has slowed down in frequency in recent years.  But its always a close but distant voice, always calm and gentle, seemingly floating on the wind but very clearly my first name.

Alone, in a crowd, or a loud machinery room, it's never mattered.  I always hear just my name.  It hasn't, so far as I'm aware, ever been related to incoming danger or harm.  Just wafting on the breeze.

I used to think it was a lack of sleep or stress getting to me, but then it would come when I was rested and relaxed.  I thought it might be someone messing with me, but it's been the same voice the entire time, following me from the Midwest to the Middle East and back.  No one person has been with me through every point in that journey to have been pulling a fast one, and there's no way a cabal of conniving comrades has managed to keep this ruse up for so long and so far.

I believe there must be a paranormal explanation for this.  Maybe its my Dad keeping an eye on me.  Maybe it's some other spirit that has latched onto me.  I'm not entirely convinced I'm not a host for something or someone.

Could also just be your run of the mill schizophrenia and it really was just stress and my brain just snapped like a french fry lost to the back seat of an old minivan.

I don't know.  Wouldn't be my first run-in with the paranormal and probably not my last.  I'll have to fill that all in elsewhere.

When I was around 7 I clearly heard my mothers voice call my name while I was walking to my schools library. It was a long hall that lead had a gym library teachers lounge as well as a huge mainfoyer. I searched everywhere but nobody was around. My mom had already passed away the year before.
The second time was when i was about 15 I had just gotten home from a party that day and was munching out in my room with the door and window Slightly open when I heard my name again this time the voice was male. There was only one other person in the house that day besides me and she was in the office 4 doors down and had not called for me. The third time was when I was 19 i had just moved into a new apartment and had started unpacking in my room while my roommate at the time left to the store 4 blocks away my door was closed and I heard my name again this time the voice was female. When I heard my name the first and second time it didn’t feel creepy or uncomfortable. The third time I heard my name i felt extremely scared.
