Vampire of Lugnano
#1
Exclamation
The Romans apparently conducted "vampire burials" in Italy, even for babies. In their funeral rituals, rocks were used to weigh down the hands and feet so as to stop the dead from rising. Vampires were very real to them. Archaeologists have unearthed these findings at a children's cemetery that dates back to the 5th century.

Are we sure they were "vampires" that were very real? Or simply the undead, which could include zombies. Especially as, people didn't really start calling anything, that was familiarly recognized as a vampire, until the 17th and 18th century.

Hmmm. Undead or zombie sounds like a better description. The article quoted "Vampire of Lugnano" as the name given by the locals. One theory was that of a severe outbreak of disease (like malaria) and many children perished at the same time, a frightening and tragically sad event. Sad

People were afraid of "reanimated corpses" coming back to spread the disease to the rest of them and so held these rituals.

Yeah, sounds like a zombie infection to me xD That's creepy as hell too, especially as we know that certain parasites exist that can zombify other forms of life. It'd be believable that something exists that could do the same to human life.

I had a hard time keeping my kids in the crib, too, but usually stopped short of weighing them down with rocks.

Believer: Black cats are bad luck.
Non-believer: It's just a cat.
Crackpot: Black cats are part of the New World Order government conspiracy.
Skeptic: I can test if black cats are more or less lucky than another cat.
Cynic: You only have a black cat to gain power and prestige.

DFB, you could have asked Count Floyd, drawing on his experience with children.  Icontexto-emoticons-04-032x032
