Town covered by spiderwebs

This video clip shows spiders casting their webs like giant nets over a large area. This one was taken in Greece.

I remember visiting an estate belonging to a marquis up in Inverness, Scotland and we drove by these ethereal woodlands and meadows, where the ground everywhere was covered with a filmy netting of spiders' webs. Incredibly delicate work by such tiny weavers. But I wouldn't want to run helter-skelter through those areas and trip over their webs. Think of the gazillion irate spiders jumping up and down in rage should some hapless person damage their spidery condominium estates. Ooo, my spidey senses are tingling already...!

I work not far from this. There was an earlier occurance like this further south in east Texas in a state park.

Subject: I have a black cat.
Believer: Black cats are bad luck.
Non-believer: It's just a cat.
Crackpot: Black cats are part of the New World Order government conspiracy.
Skeptic: I can test if black cats are more or less lucky than another cat.
Cynic: You only have a black cat to gain power and prestige.

Simply amazing. Thanks for the link, DFB. Wonder how these spiders communicate their intent to combine efforts in such instances? Many species are quite solitary and fiercely territorial. Some kind of hive mind at work perhaps?
Apologies to all arachnophobes, please avert your eyes. Icontexto-emoticons-04-032x032
