White light
#1
I've just now joined this forum - mostly out of a hope that others may have some insight into the experience, and also out of a need to share the puzzle. My wife and I are past 50 and have for many years been casually interested in the paranormal. We read, go visit well-known "haunted" areas, have participated in paranormal investigations, but are really just regular people. We each have our own theories about things, and are open to new ideas.
This is probably the most blatant and indisputable thing we've yet experienced.

5/07/18: It's 10:20 pm, we're in bed, and as usual, I fall asleep almost as soon as I hit the pillow, while my wife lays awake in the dark. We keep our room very dark, with heavy drapes, no cell phones or much electronics in the room, and a fan humming. I see bright light through my eyelids, and my wife says loudly "what is  that?" It wakes me from my half-sleep immediately, and our room is filled with white light. The source is on my side of the room, near the floor, some 4' from my knees. She said it appeared near the ceiling, moved over there and stopped. We get about 2 seconds to look in wonder at what may be an orb when it suddenly winks out.
Back to pitch-black room. We spent the next couple of hours excitedly trying to find a rational explanation. It did not feel threatening, just eerie. We eventually got to sleep, but were texting each other at work the next day, going over it.
5/08/18: It's 9 pm, we 've gone to bed a bit early due to lack of sleep the night before. I've unplugged almost every electrical device in the room. I fall asleep and immediately my wife is pounding my leg. The room is insanely bright. The source of the light is an amorphous, small globe, right at my nightstand, about 2' from my head. I got about 1 second to observe it, then it winked out. We'd eliminated every reasonable explanation before going to bed, and it happened again! Within a few minutes, a thunderstorm rumbled through our neighborhood.

Nothing happened last night that we are aware of. We both have been looking at other people's accounts of similar things on-line, but found nothing quite like what we both experience.
Any thoughts?

Hi! Welcome to the site!

Though I don't have any belief that it would explain anything you mentioned a thunderstorm. Ball lightning and St. Elmo's fire are possibles. There are also a few insects that are bioluminous but nothing that would light up a room.

I should clarify a couple of things...
My impression of the source of the light as being from an orb was just an impression, and one my wife doesn't share. The light to me seemed to come from a single point & radiate outward, but I can't honestly say there was an "orb".
The other thing is that on the first night, she says she DID NOT see it come from the ceiling down. It was just that she lay on her right side, and had an impression of movement from over her left shoulder.
We set up a camera in our room over the last few nights with no repeat of the light display. We've also played with a number of flashlights in the dark to emulate the strange light - finding 100+ lumen LED lights covered with several layers of tissue to come close, but not manage that same "no shadows" effect.

I don't think there is going to be a satisfactory answer. We'll just add this to the long list of odd happenings in our house.

One thing I WOULD experiment with is using a flashlight or other light outside any windows to that room, even if the windows have shades that were closed or down.  A direct light shining through even the tiniest crack or pinhole can light up a dark room.  Someone with a flashlight might have been prowling outside your house or it's even possible a neighbor could have been playing with a laser.

Listen to your wife.
The light in the form of a circle that arrives and disappears is "an archival niche or a collector of enriched energy", which derives from the fifth dimension for reincarnation in physical bodies)
What works in your room is the question.
It is usually located near a physical body that has some connection to the fifth dimension, although this person is not aware of this.

Post #4, DFB:
Good thought, one that I thought of the first night, too. I wondered if the police were going through yards, or if a helicopter was shining a spotlight into the window of our second-story bedroom. I tried our strongest flashlight from the backyard up into our windows, and wife said it was obvious what it was.
Can't rule out some form of that, but it would be a very strong flashlight, and far enough away to shine over the privacy fence. It's possible.
The more time that stretches away from those two nights, the more it feels as if there must be some mundane reason for them.
