American Stonehenge - Georgia Guidestones
The Georgia Guidestones are generally dubbed the 'American Stonehenge' for its mysterious design and meaning.
Erected in 1980 about 90 miles east of Atlanta, the Georgia Guidestones is a granite monument consisting of 10 guidelines inscribed in eight modern languages. A shorter message is also inscribed at the top of the monument in four ancient languages. There is another slab located near the Guidestones giving astronomical features as well as a time capsule buried underneath with no recovery date.

In 1979, a person with the pseudonym R.C. Christian came forth with plans for a granite monument sponsored by 'a small group of Americans who seek the Age of Reason'. Elberton Granite, the company who produced the Guidestones figured Christian was a nut and offered a quote several times higher than normal but Christian took the offer anyway. Apparently, Christian and his small group of Americans had been planning this monument for 20 years and wished to remain anonymous forever.

The 10 guidelines are written in English, Spanish, Chinese, Hebrew, Russian, Arabic, Swahili, and Hindi.
Quote: The ten guides for a new Age of Reason are as follows:

1. Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.
2. Guide reproduction wisely – improving fitness and diversity.
3. Unite humanity with a living new language.
4. Rule passion – faith – tradition – and all things with tempered reason.
5. Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts.
6. Let all nations rule internally resolving external disputes in a world court.
7. Avoid petty laws and useless officials.
8. Balance personal rights with social duties.
9. Prize truth – beauty – love – seeking harmony with the infinite.
10. Be not a cancer on the earth – Leave room for nature – Leave room for nature.

Right off the bat we have population control, vague references to eugenics, creating a world court, etc. Several conspiracy theorists have quickly jumped to the conclusion that these guidelines are the blueprint for the New World Order. Under these guidelines, it would call for the extermination of 9/10ths of the current world population, laws regulating reproduction and marriages, and the creation of a one world government. -calling all tin foil hat wearers-

Another significant part of the monument is R.C. Christian's near obsession with astronomy. A hole was drilled in the Center Stone so that the North Star could be seen at any moment. On the astronomical features slab it reads:
Quote: Astronomic Features
1. Channel through stone
indicates celestial pole
2. Horizontal slot indicates
annual travel of sun
3. Sunbeam through capstone
marks noontime throughout
the year

Author: R.C. Christian
(a pseudonyn) [sic]

Sponsors: A small group
of Americans who seek
the Age of Reason

Time Capsule
Placed six feet below this spot
To be opened on

The words appear as shown under the time capsule heading; no dates are engraved.
Many occultists have theorized R.C. was merely an astronmy nut due to his obsession with the monument's alignment with the moon, sun, and stars.
