Frequent nightmare.....why?
I have had nightmares all my life. Not everynight thankfully but several a month. Anyways they all feel so real I sometimes wake up not knowing if I'm actually wake. I will use the one I had last night as an example.

In my dream I am in bed sleeping and get woken by people talking, I sit up and dont see anyone. I turn to go back to sleep and there is a man in the room, talking to his self I suppose, then a few start coming out from various places wall, bed, closet, etc. They all look weird, like wrinkly and dirty some with torn clothing but they have a weird sense about them. All mumbling or pacing around.
I usually just volt awake after my heart starts to pound but last night I asked "what are you...." Before I finished my sentence they all went silent and turned to me. The man by the bed looked at me and reached his hand towards me, I instantly felt panic and awoke.
When I woke up my husband was still watching tv and said I was barely asleep an hour.

Anyone know what it means? Someone suggested its just lucid dreaming, but I'm never aware its a dream it always feels real. Sometimes when I have those dreams I feel like a zombie for several days after, like I cant fully wake up. If it is lucid dreaming is there a way to stop it?

RE: Frequent nightmare.....why?
I wind up saying this often, sorry, but it's a pet peeve. A lucid dream is a dream where you know that you are dreaming. What you describe is a vivid dream.

That being said there are people that have experimented and turned a recurring vivid dream into a lucid dream. Some of them did this by meditating on the dream and visualizing being able to do something that could resolve the dream. For example, someone that dreamed they were falling might visualize that they could fly in the dream. If it is successful they go from falling to flying. You might try visualizing that you can generate a force field to keep them from touching you and that you have ESP so that you could read their thoughts and know what they are thinking.

RE: Frequent nightmare.....why?
I have had the same experience a couple times in my life, but I think it never happened again because I never cared too much, for me it is the same if it is a ghost meeting, or a weird dream or some kind of soul´s eater passing by (I heard that one in a very creepy story), it was about an entity which feeds of the residual energy of dead people, and when it gets close, you see all the souls he has eaten begging for help). Well, but I don´t care, nothing is worth enough to make me loose my calm and inner peace, in any case I just try to keep cool and try to learn something from the experience... Salutes!

RE: Frequent nightmare.....why?
I have had this when I was a child I was locked in a glass coffin type thing by a woman and her house was a maze...just an odd dream. I had that dream many reoccurring nights until one time in my dream I somehow got out of the box and put the witch in the woman in the glass coffin. I never had that dream again after that.
