So, as a majority it was basically you moving the planchette? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of the having the spirits speaking through it?

No, because I don't think it's an outside force pushing the planchette. I'ts like freewriting, where you cause the action but the spirit causes the outcome.

If there's no outside force it is YOU controlling the outcome.

People can use the board solo and be successful, it just takes practice. Jane Roberts wrote several books by allegedly using the board solo.

I'm not questioning the use of the board alone, I'm questioning the legitimacy of the board period. As far as someone writing a book about something, I once submitted a paper for an assignment about a trip to California, it received good marks, teach was impressed about my ability to recall such vivid details, and guess what? I've never been to California and I didn't need a board game to help me write it.

You won't find your answers reading stories and claims that have no proof. Attend a spirit board session or use the board yourself to come up with your own conclusion. There are multiple threads here debating the legitimacy of the board, just let people post their stories and treat them as entertainment.

Prove any board will work to talk to the dead.... solve a murder (there are tens of thousands of unsolved ones.) Psychics are unable to but surely a childs toy should be able to. Oh wait let me guess it doesn't work that way you can only get answers you cannot prove.
Belief bias occurs when we make illogical conclusions in order to confirm our preexisting beliefs. Belief perseverance refers to our tendency to maintain a belief even after the evidence we used to form the belief is contradicted.

I have used a board, many times, many different places with the same outcome, nothing! But in spirit of you're comment I just used my ANTIQUE board (it's old so it must be super efficient at contacting the other side!) and the spirit told me they were bogus, guess it must be true since a spirit told me so.

Indeed, the board is nothing more than what you make of it. But did it really take you this long to figure that out? Or are you just here to shame other people who are having fun?

I have an idea, how about we go over to the vampire forums and the ghost forums and tell them all they should stop posting because it's all bogus. Lets head over to religion as well and tell them they can all stop now too.

Nope, not here to shame anybody. OP stated they were consciously moving the planchette and at the same time claiming a spirit was predicting the future, I was asking questions out of confusion. You gave me your two cents so I reciprocated, I hardly feel that means we should go around popping everyone's bubbles.

I hate to bring an old thread back from the dead but I wanted to shine a little light on failed predictions here. If this session did happen as stated, than we can come to the conclusion that Ouija boards are not reliable (to say the least) and certainly can't predict the future. No need to be scared, Have fun!

Try leaving the board out on a table, flat with nothing else on table and don't play loud music(or any music). Write on a small note a yes or no question. Like is there a spirit here..? Set the note on the planchete and leave it. See if it moves over night or within whatever time you think best. If nothing try another question. Remember you will probably not see it move (unless you try a cam on it). Just an easy yes or no question.
I have not tried a board but have lived places where people say things moved. And have had others see same aberration(ghost).

Interesting experiment to try, but my only advise is your opening a door that you do not want to open.

I have heard the same response before. Sounds foreboding. It's just a board with symbols and a planchette(as it's named). So do you have any stories about using them?

Yeah, if I leave anything unattended on the table the cat knocks it off.

Subject: I have a black cat.
Believer: Black cats are bad luck.
Non-believer: It's just a cat.
Crackpot: Black cats are part of the New World Order government conspiracy.
Skeptic: I can test if black cats are more or less lucky than another cat.
Cynic: You only have a black cat to gain power and prestige.
