are Sigils dangerous?
I've been reading a lot on sigils and gathering all the items necessary to do it properly. I have zero magick or witch craft skills or knowledge and this will be the first time I've attempted a spell.

Has anyone here done a sigil or more than a few? how did it turn out assuming you did it properly?

Am I messing w/ the dark side in doing a sigil? I really don't think so as I'm simply drawing up a sigil, concentrating my thoughts and desires (all positive FYI) on that and then releazing it in to the universe.

I guess a part of me is a bit paranoid, I do not want anything to do w/ the occult or dark magic.

RE: are Sigils dangerous?
It depends on what the sigil symbolises. Anyway, to be safe, protect yourself before using sigils. You never know what you will stumble across. Good luck

RE: are Sigils dangerous?
i'm using sigils to enhance stuff i'm already working on example: finding a better job, weight loss - none of them involve other people or any negativity.

protection sounds like a good idea - do you have any examples? like a prayer to st. michael? or just a prayer in general? if you do any sort of magic how do you protect yourself? thanks!

I'm sure you will be safe in that case.
I find any protection spell on Internet and use it.
You can even do your own spell.
To make it easier, find spells to create amulets and stuff like that so you can be protected anytime you wear them.
I made an ocean amulet from a spell I found on Internet.

RE: are Sigils dangerous?
You are not comfortable with using Sigils your afraid and second guessing yourself these are negative emotions which you will have within you when your doing your spell it wont work and why put yourself through that. Spell work is actually easy is all about you and your intent use your own spells and protection spells use your own words in everything that you do cause it is about you and never do something that doesn't feel right to you follow your feelings and your instincts there telling you something. Everybody is different and there is no right and wrong in Magic its what works for you!

I dabbled in sigils but they never worked. The hard part is charging them. GRant Morrison is a big one on sigils. He claims they work fine, but the means of charging them up can be a bit rude.

RE: are Sigils dangerous?
A symbol has no power on it's own. It is the energy and meaning that we give them that cause them to work. By that theory, you could even use the Satanic Cross, and direct the power for good, and you would still be fine. Many of the sigils that we have nowadays come from ancient times, and over however many thousands of years, their power has grown because someone, somewhere, made up some squiggles and said "This is what this means." And people continue to use it.
I used to go to church with my Catholic grandparents, and in their church, the ceiling was painted with many different symbols. Keep in mind, this was when I first started my journey with Wicca. One of those symbols is the triquetra, the three loops with a circle entwined through it. I asked her about it, and she said, "Oh, that's one of the many signs for the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit." Of course, I almost told her that she was wrong, but didn't. The triquetra has been used for thousands of years before Christianity became a thing. Most commonly known for in Pagan religions (such as the basis for Wicca) as the symbol of the Goddess, who takes the form of a Maiden, a Mother, and a Crone.
But I digress. The point is, it doesn't matter what the symbol is, you would make your own for cripes sake. Those little squiggles are what you make of them, and the energy and direction you give them.

These eight words, the Rede fulfil: And ye harm none, do what ye will.
