Belief bias occurs when we make illogical conclusions in order to confirm our preexisting beliefs. Belief perseverance refers to our tendency to maintain a belief even after the evidence we used to form the belief is contradicted.

In a world that is filled with materialism, when you do not see an angel, why cannot a demon provide faith of a space that is of human spiritual continuance? So there the Devil is of faith without destruction.

Wow, it's a good thing you posted that link, UnR. I can sleep easy tonight knowing that the mystery surrounding Angels and Demons has been solved: Angels cause people to pass out and demons keep themselves busy by becoming the mayors of Detroit and New York. I guess you really do learn something new everyday. For example, did you know that "700 Club" is Aramaic for "I Ching"? Icontexto-emoticons-04-032x032

Eliza, I have read this post three times and still have no idea what you mean. Bluecy

I'm guessing that you are trying to make the point that demons are as much proof of a heavenly hierarchy as are angels? And, as such, one should only feel uplifted by encounters with demons, for surely one (demons) cannot exist without their opposite (Angels)? Kinda like if you flip a coin and it lands on heads, it is not to be taken as evidence that tails may fail to exist (even though it is not visible)?

I do not know about Angels or demons providing 'faith of human spiritual continuance,' since these beings are not, and never were, human. Seeing their presence as proof of God existing makes more sense, especially in terms of believing in life after death.

One thing I did understand and do agree with is that 'the world is filled with materialism.' Lately, I have been finding my thoughts drifting (and despairing) to this truth more and more. Probably because I work in a place that generates excessive waste. It has caused me to wonder: after survival is no longer the primary force and motivation in human life, can people abandon their need to consume, even when their bellies are full? I do not think so. I think we are biologicall pre-destined to consume and consume until we burst or until nothing is left, whichever comes first. I guess it's just a roll of the dice. Blueud

I can't decide what's more offensive, your sarcasm or that guy's gullibility.

But why don't you avoid the issue by deleting my post?
