Energy work and how it relates to ASMR

RE: Energy work and how it relates to ASMR
Good example Gizmo. When we were kids, we'd stand and keep our hands during the washer machine spin cycle and try to sing. We would walk like drunks for a few minutes after with goose bumps and tingling.

RE: Energy work and how it relates to ASMR
Thats the funny thing triggers are not universal. There is nothing across the board that works for everyone. And science doesn't know why not everyone can feel Asmr. It can be loud but most videos you will find are actually quiet.

I googled find your ASMR trigger and found the following videos. I picked these videos because most of them use multiple triggers to find your triggers. I would also like to state I am not associated with anyone I am linking they are just examples to find triggers.

RE: Energy work and how it relates to ASMR
Well, I commend you. I watched a bit of each one and they were hilarious.
Video#1) It's of Miss Cherry Mountain Top, which I'm sure is very uplifting to the men folk watching.
#2) Blondie does some interesting things to the computer screen. I tell ya, that sure is a clean screen.
#3) Is of an Elf Mime who scratches his self repeatedly with a cigar. Poor thing, now that they dropped him off on Earth, he's losing his hair.
#4) Is the lead singer of KISS. Nice to see he's still found work.
#5) That girl from Blaire Witch Project. She has this 1000 page book and she just turns the pages. Back and forth. Over and over. I was in suspense here cause I just knew some homicidal maniac was gonna snatch her. lol!

Hmmm....I didn't respond to the crinkling or whispering, but from the comments, a lot of people do.

Giz,
As I said before different triggers, and there is really no way to figure out without trying it out. ASMR seems to follow no rhyme or reason.

RE: Energy work and how it relates to ASMR
I just had a chance to talk with my husband about this, and his response was interesting, if slightly hard to follow. But I'll try to paraphrase. He is a sensitive of a certain type. He has never had the pleasant tingle on the scalp of ASMR, but he describes a kind of pleasant and startling shock like feeling he gets in his hands that runs up his arms. (I never knew this. I guess it pays to ask?)

He said it happens with sound, but usually musical sound. However, it can be environmental sound. He likens it to when there is a nice entanglement of his own body's resonance and this other resonance, whatever it might be. He says sometimes he becomes aware through someone talking, that his energy and theirs is sort of meshing in a pleasing way. He made big sweeps in the air to show me what he was trying to say. He said, like this is my energy form, and then he made different patterns and said that this might be someone else's energy and when he is engaged in conversation with them, that he becomes aware that every so many beats, they kind of mesh and he gets what feels like electric shocks in his hands and up his arms. He said these are pleasant - kind of like a tingle of deep recognition? But he said it's a definite physical thing - the feeling of shocks.

Sometimes, this happens in background noise. Something just resonates. He used that word a lot. He thinks it's a resonance of sorts.

How it relates to psychic ability, I don't know. But he said it made a lot of sense that it might be something that has to do with the ability or way that people sense and deal with energetic impressions. Maybe the anomalously sensitive people are already highly attuned to "resonances" and this is another (possibly unrelated??) outcome of that.

Another thing he mentioned was the whole idea of the music of the spheres thing. There is a lot of theory out there about the effects of sound on the body, and the energy centers of the body (like chakras). Certain sound frequencies seem to elicit healing responses from people, although I don't have any idea quite why. But apparently the body is quite attuned to sound frequencies - resonances.

We have a small collection of Tibetan singing bowls. These are not the crystal singing bowls that have one clear, bell-like note. These are the old hammered metal ones that have layers of sound from deep booming tones to very high ones when played a certain way. They are awesome. They submerge you in sound when played close to your head. I haven't had any ASMR responses to them, but certainly feel washed in sound when listening to them. Their resonances are supposed to be healing, according to the Tibetan monks who used them in their traditional meditations. They say that if the player of the bowls isn't ready for their wisdom, then the "hungry ghosts" nearby will benefit from the sound. (A quote I got from an interview with an older monk about the bowls.)

Is this related to ASMR?

RE: Energy work and how it relates to ASMR
I can honestly say I don't know, but its a definate possibility.

I know for ASMR I love Tibetan singing bowls. I feel even if I didn't get tingles I would love them just because of the sound.

It took your mentioning it for music going up his arms but I think I understand that. When I was younger I played flute and I loved the resonance its similar to the singing bowls and it would sort of tingle through my arms. Also I have a very strong love of music in general.

The feeling other peoples resonance i get too, and I get what your husband means. I think all people to some degree have that though. Like people sometimes make you feel happy or meh just by walking into the room. I just don't think everyone gets the shocks. What he described sounds like a different description of what you called my radar. Sensing who/what is around us and the emotions involved.

Some ASMR is not sound based. But with me at least I can say that it is primarily sound for me.

At the very least I think this puts us on a good track since your hubby thinks they may be related as well?

Obviously we need more then 3 subjects but I think it shows potential and it might take years to get anywhere on it, but I looked and couldn't find any information prior on if anyone looked into a link between ASMR and being Sensitive.

RE: Energy work and how it relates to ASMR
Checked them out but will admit to not going through all totally. Yes I did get some of the triggers like the softer tones, inaudible whispers, soft whooshing sound but some also just jarred with my senses (some of that loud nail tapping etc) and had the opposite effect. Am tactile by nature so massage or stroking gets me..lol.
Certain music also does this, the Gregorian chants, Scottish Bagpipes and some musical tones but not all.

RE: Energy work and how it relates to ASMR
Going through them at all is wonderful @}~;~ as I said when I started this its just a theory, so any participation is greatly appreciated.

And I didn't expect anyone to sit through it all, if something annoys you skip to the next trigger. Truth be told 2 of those ASMR people I dislike, their voices annoy me, 1 I also like alot. But not everyone will be like me loving metal bottle caps, writing with fountain pens/Glass pens(I write with these myself as I love the sound), mouth clicking, singing bowls, and so forth. So I left it open to not bias things.
