Beside keep going to your AM meeting I would pick up the 12 steps of AA. We can all benefit from those steps or at least some.

From what I understand, he has had improvement from actual therapy and counseling. I don't believe burning a piece of paper is going to make a difference for him. Neither would AA be appropriate if his problem is not alcoholism. And even if it was, there would be that issue of them being essentially a religious group that does not respect his personal religious beliefs.

What you're doing seems to be working. You didn't black out last time. That's good.

Yes, I didn't black out. Yet I seemed to have the uncontrollable "word vomit".
I can be mean, insulting, it can hurt to someone's very core.
The voice that comes with it, isn't even my own sometimes; it's cold and chilling.

There was one time when I was around 13 (21 now), I spoke to my own mother in such a tone that her and my own brother backed off. She cried the rest of the night, and they wouldn't tell me what I said. They don't remember what I said now, but it bothers me to know I can get that way.

RE: A serious problem.
Have you ever tried this on Kim Kardashian? If not, say out loud that she and Kanye get lost at sea during their honeymoon. They don't need to die, but just be stuck on an island where the world is no longer able to hear or see them.

RE: A serious problem.
Rose I know you don't have any belief in writing it down then reading and burning but it is a known recognised therapy/counselling method that has been proven to work with some people, so is worth thinking about doing.

When you blacked out and the different voice came it sounds as though you could have been channeling some form of energy but if anger triggers it that's the type of energy that will come from/to you.....and you don't sound as though you want this.

Just a suggestion but when you feel the "red mist" why not go outside and chop wood, go kick boxing, thump pillows anything to get the anger out without venting it at a person. Try doing something like learning a martial art which will help give you control over body and mind but be sure of the Master who will teach you (not someone whose in it for the fight but a spiritual person too).

Just my thoughts for what they are worth.

You walk in the long grass and wonder why you can not see!!

When I black out, I have no control over myself.
But therapy has only brought me to the conclusion that I have to take myself away from a situation before it gets to that point. To walk away, to go for a walk. I can't hit a pilow, or something soft; I must hit something hard and that gives way. In high school I used to do boxing, and MMA; but that was only during school. I graduated and that was taken away.

So I had to find new ways.
If I had the money, I'd do martial arts as a whole; but I do not have the money.

You can do martial arts in your own home, just check out Youtube.

Maybe you should try to meditate or hypnotherapy..... also on youtube.

Aye, my last therapist did hypnotherapy and I couldn't contain myself as I felt nothing but the urge to laugh. I knew it was serious, but something told me to laugh within myself; I'm overly conscious therefore I cannot be hypnotized. I do meditate, that is something I do enjoy.

I used to teach myself Muy Thai, but lost interest after I lost my sparring partner.

RE: A serious problem.
Shame I didn't realise Martial Arts were expensive where you are, here if you find the right teacher it isn't that expensive. I take it there's no chance of doing any sparing anywhere? Which country do you live in U.S.A.?

At least you now recognise when that "red mist" is imminent and remove yourself so it's a safety net for you.

RE: A serious problem.
I'm in a big city and we have community centers that have "Tae Kwon Do" for only $2 a class, twice a week.

For the price of a Taco Bell Burrito, you can get a killer workout. I've watched the classes before and they really work their students out. The classes have like 30 people and they all spar with each other.

Anyhooo, look into your local community center.
