Have You Ever Jumped?
#1
I read somewhere that this experience may be an early OBE so I decided to share it:

When I was a child, when I was first beginning to fall asleep, I had this "dream" of getting out of bed, opening the door and standing on top of the stairs. (When I was small, I lived in a row-home that was very small and my bedroom was close to the stairs). Once I reached the top of the stairs, I would jump and then my jump would startle me awake.
Interestingly, whenever I dreamed this, when I stood on top of the stairs I could hear my parents laughing and talking very clearly, as if I was actually standing on the stairs. I could hear the TV, the laughing and everything as if I was actually doing it.
I am not sure why I jumped. But I always did and it would jolt me awake and send this startling panic through my body. I'd wake up hyperventilating and very frightened, as if I actually did jump. In this dream, was I trying to hurt myself? Or was I actually attempting to try out my astral flying skills without knowing it?
Has anyone else had these kinds of experiences?

Yes...similar to yours and I was also a child, I remember seeing the T.V. on and watching...thing is the glass panel was small and right at the door top plus the stair banister was very high and when in my body I couldn't see above the banister let alone look through the glass into the living room!! astral travel when in dream state explains it..hope that helps. I've also had many more experiences of this type of travel it's a weird feeling when you are pulled back into your body.
You walk in the long grass and wonder why you can not see!!

Yeah, that's so weird! And it does feel weird, for me it was a mix of sheer panic/terror/ and almost a feeling of being electrocuted or something. So strange!

LOl....for me it's like being jerked back with a rush instantly then wham I'm awake. That only happens when I loose control of it though.

Sounds like a hypnic jerk to me. I get these a great deal and my partner wants to kill me cuz I often wake him in process, so I've researched them. For me it happens as I fall asleep and I'm always in a situation that allows for me to fall or I voluntarily leap. It's really not nice. Read up a bit about it, it can be a medical sign if more persistent:
