Was this an OBE?
In July 2012 I was in a serious car accident which left me in a coma for 8 days. While in a coma it wasn't how you would expect one to be as in no awareness til you come round. I could hear people talking and see people round me. Could me seeing people be an OBE? I never saw myself but saw people visiting me. I knew who they were but knew I couldn't communicate with them so didn't try. I was aware of a nurse saying I was lucky to of survived and my car flipped on its roof and was facing on coming traffic. I didn't know they was on about me. Another time I heard someone say I had been in a car accident. I thought no I haven't or I would know. Then I thought back to last time I remembered driving and realised I didn't remember the last part of the journey or arriving home. So thought maybe it was true. I thought of my dog who sometimes went in my car and hoped he hadn't been with me but thought he would be ok if he was as I'd obviously survived. Sadly he had been with me and hadn't made it. I remember thinking and hoping I'd meet my grandad who I'd lost 10 years earlier, so I had some awareness I could have died yet didn't feel at all scared. Even once I was unable to breathe but didn't panic. All through the coma and recovery there was times like this where I would of expected to panic yet I was calm.

You were certainly given a 2nd chance anyway. My ex-husband was in a coma for 15days, it's posted under the NDE forum. He was aware also but couldn't open eyes or interact. He could see and hear through his eyelids though.

It's definately something you can only understand fully if you have been in that situation. I mean the thought of being aware but unable to move or communicate sounds far worse than it feels. Or at least to me anyway.

An O.B.E. is just that you are in your astral/etheric body away from your physical body which you can see, but it sounds as though your senses where heightened but you were still in your body?
Glad that you got through, it must have been awful.

You walk in the long grass and wonder why you can not see!!

Thanks the worst part for me was finding out that my dog had died obviously in the accident. I have tried remembering what happened and can't but I do have certain thoughts memories that could be me trying to make up what happened but even in them none are of my dog. I guess it's lucky I don't remember anything so no bad memories. Nothing at all as bad as you would think it would be like to be in serious accident. All I remember is driving then hearing people talking when I was in coma. It was much worse for my mum and nan as they had no idea if I would even live and if I did what sort of life I'd have. Luckily I had the best possible outcome and got back to normal much quicker than expected.

Your family must be so relieved to still have you, I'm so sorry about your dog having had dogs (and still have) I know how much that must upset you.
Don't try and get your memories back sometimes it's just best you don't remember, I know because I have approx 2 weeks of my own life missing not due to an accident though. I do get flash backs and you may too in time, if they are awful ones just let them go, you are now a survivor and safe.Smile
