Unsolved mysteries!
#11
Oh, gee-- how about where Agatha Christie disappeared to for a couple of weeks? Who was DB Cooper? Tonybee tiles (Sp?)? If I had my list of blog topics in front of me, I could go on forever...

Time magazine, a special issue or two ago-- the one before DDay, I think, had a greatest mysteries of all time issue. You may be able to find one somewhere.

superfan....Didn't say I believe that one though there is the possibility of them being real. Again, as with ALL topics in this forum....nobody knows the definitive answer whether things exist or not. I believe in the possibilities...too many stories throughout decades, even centuries, to just brush it off. Those who believe they know the answer either way is just full of themselves.

Anyway, here's a good article on missing people: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/roger-mars...84127.html

The book "Missing 411" by David Paulides ....there are many more stories of unexplained, weird, missing people you never hear about.
Sure some people choose to go missing but when someone is there one instance then gone the next? People hiking through trails and the last one in line goes missing! Thought provoking reading.

Very true statement. lol

I read that article. Now I want to read that book.
"One woman stated that she was walking around in very unfamiliar territory and did see other people, but they could not see her."
Thats creepy. Kind of like stepping into the next dimension perhaps? Interesting!!
"To really ask is to open the door to the whirlwind.
The answer may annihilate the question and the questioner."

I remember hearing stories like that many years ago (I'm 62). People walking down the street and no one seems to know they're there. People almost getting hit by cars or accidents happening at crossroads because one didn't see the other although looking and paying attention.

many mysteries indeed, just reinforcing the saying we don't know all there is to know.

Just watched a video on TWA 800 and once again my blood boiled. A true mystery? Yes. Anybody who doesn't have their nose up the Gov't.'s tail knows missiles brought it down. The mystery is why wouldn't the Gov. admit it and do what's necessary to the victim's families? The mystery is how does Kalstrom, Hall, and others live with themselves. The mystery is where did the missiles come from? Why were there so many navy vessels in the area which quickly were able to help.

I didn't put this into the conspiracy theory thread because there's no conspiracy...except for what the Gov. did, and still does to this day, refuse evidence contrary to what we're told.

Probably recieved his just desserts.I would not want to wander aimlsly & see people yet know 1 knows I exsist,creepy.I guess it's like those old vintage stores,some even sell those penny candies,it's just like the Twilight Zone.It's if you were like in that era.Just like the people who do re enactments of the war,that's awesome to watch.Cannons going off,guns,& seeing the camp set up it's just like stepping back in time.

LOL! I thought that book was so obscure no one else around these parts would have heard about it! It's in my "to read" stack right now.... I gotta finish some of the other things I've been reading lately. But, I did take that with me on Memorial Day weekend so I could read about some of the disappearances in my region while I was going to some National Parks-- I know! I know! Reading about spooky things in places I'm traveling to... *grin*

What I skimmed about the book was really interesting. It's going to be a fast read when I get down the stack to that one!

Now that I've my list in front of me... here are some "strange" things I've heard about and deign to write about at some point:

* James Worson
* The Overtoun Bridge Dunbartonshire, Scotland
* Candido Godoi Brazil
* Toynbee Tiles
* Flannan Isles Lighthouse keepers Dec 1900
* Bennington Triangle-- Bennington, VT Dec 1, 1949, Dec 1, 1946, Oct 1950
* Benjamin Bathurst Vanishes 1809
* Lincoln Tunnel, Jackson Wright 1975
* Roanoke Island
* SS Ourang Medan - Distress signal, what happened to crew?
* Lead Masks Case

... granted, my list is 5 pages and growing... but you did just ask for "mysteries"... and that list will get you off to a good start.

Nice list. All but one I've never heard of. I'll have to look those up. Thanks.
Now the Roanoke Island mystery. People have gone out and discovered some maybe clues, but that's one mystery that'll never be solved.
