Saw entire life flash before my eyes in less than a second
This isn't a near death experience, but I often hear 'you'll see your life flash before your eyes, before you die'.

When I was in the 4th grade, I hit my head on ice. When this happened, I blacked out for a second and saw my entire life before my eyes. It was like on am old film wheel and I probably saw about 30 images of my life in less than a second. It was like a movie of my young life.

I had a NDE in 2004, I had a MI barely got a call off to rescue, blacked out. Never experienced my life passing by. I did have something similar to a OBE.

similar for me, I had a NDE 2009 when under emergency surgery (I died on the table for a few minutes) I then spent nearly a week in a coma on a ventilator in ITU. I now have approx 2 weeks of my life missing...but I have had flash backs of certain things that occurred when I died again rather like an OBE but with more to it, much as CDS said.

You walk in the long grass and wonder why you can not see!!

The brain is a very interesting thing: I wonder if research into how memory works will someday help to explain this phenomena?

I cannot remember where I read this but some scientists have said that having your life or parts of your life flash before your eyes when you are in danger or close to death is because the brain doesen't know how to cope with the situation at hand. rather it searches it's memories to try and find a similar situation and find a way out of the current situation.

Thus why we re-experience various parts of our lifes when we are in severe danger etc.

Might not be the best of explanations or posts, if anything's unclear, please let me know and I'll try to re-phrase this ..
