Ghostbox
#11
One of our team members, Mike is the guy who did the first hack of the 2007 version of the ghost box. It was the 12-470 Shack Hack. If you have been in the paranormal since then you probably remember the Radio Shack Hacks. They were really the first ghost boxes available to the public and thousands of people hacked them and used them back then. Now you can buy a ghost box from a number of sources. But back then only the 12-469 and 12-470 Shack Hacks were available. Our team member made the very first videos for youtube showing how to hack the 12-469 and 12-470 too. That was back in Nov 2007. Here is a history timeline of those ghost boxes. http://www.keyportparanormal.com/origino...edbox.html

I had the opportunity to have several debates with Frank Sumption, inventor of the Frank's Box, which was actually originally thought by Sumption to carry alien voices. He is an...interesting character, and to be honest, I actually liked the guy as a person. However, for me, these boxes are broken radios filled with white noise that can cause audio pareidolia..plus the fact that stray radio stations come through all of the time. One of my favorite excuses was 'there was cursing and no one on any radio station near me allows cursing'. They have obviously never listened to underground radio stations from colleges and universities.

I won't debate about this subject anymore. I have my opinion...they are junk. But to be fair, Frank shows more people how to build their own than he does sell them. He sold one to the psychic Chris Moon who has since gone on to make ridiculous amounts of money...and Frank kicks himself in the head for ever having anything to do with Moon. His words.

I remember researching Franks Box years ago. I broke the schematic down to each individual phase and saw how each circuit worked. Imagine my disappointment when I discovered it was just a sweeping radio. The most interesting factor of the early Franks Box was the first circuit component that was a transistor that was biased to allow for outside environmental factors to allow it to change voltages that were then fed into an amplification circuit that controlled the sweep direction and timing.
Later versions were relying on more conventional sweeping electronics methods that were fixed to produce voltage measurements that were more linear in nature. That same method is used today on the different versions of the spirit boxes they sell online.
The Shack Hacks that I did in 2007 were based on the later Franks Boxes and were very popular in their day.
I know many do not think these devices are worth much as far as research is concerned, and I thought so too early on. But I have found that my paranormal partner and team lead Kris gets amazing results with the spirit box. Results I have only seen one other get very few times. So my original feeling about the spirit box has been changed by what Kris receives during our investigations. She gets consistent results, very related to her questions about the individual investigation locations and associated factors for what were were there for.
I am not trying to change anyone's mind, but hearing what she gets sure changed mine.
Anyway, this is a great forum and I'm very glad I found it.
I will find the appropriate threads to post about a few of the other devices I created for paranormal research. You might find the info interesting. Let me close by attaching some text introducing myself and providing a short Bio about me. Thanks again for this forum! Mike Coletta

Okay breaking away just for a minute to say...it really isn't necessary to post your bio in every post. You can add it to your profile page on here and direct people to that if you want to keep pushing this stuff. And to be very honest, I am not impressed with 'amazing results' on these boxes. Too many variables and too many people fueled by their own beliefs and biases.
