Astral Travel Experiment - Try It Out

RE: Astral Travel Experiment - Try It Out
I have tried it but once I relax its off to sleep .... and I never remember dreams so I gave up.

Plus doesn't my mind have to be there fully before it can leave?

Belief bias occurs when we make illogical conclusions in order to confirm our preexisting beliefs. Belief perseverance refers to our tendency to maintain a belief even after the evidence we used to form the belief is contradicted.

RE: Astral Travel Experiment - Try It Out
When i astral travelled, my mind was totally in control. It helps if you practise meditation first, so that you can train your mind not to wander onto other thoughts. I've done this for years and maybe because of that, that's why i found it pretty easy to achieve astral travel.

Gosh, i can never understand it when people don't remember their dreams. My dreamlife is part of my life, i dream so vivid, i've woken sometimes and thought that certain things have really happened. I used to have terrible dreams though and wished i couldn't remember them, but now they're normal again.

One day UNR you'll end up having something paranormal happen to you, i can feel it in my bones! I have a friend who wrote a few articles on my sight, he's called Wayne Ridsdel, he was just like you and then out of the blue he went and saw a ghost and now he's transformed! It is particularly comforting to him though as he is dying and knows it.

All my life I always wanted to be somebody. Now I see that I should have been more specific...

I've heard of Wayne and my thoughts and prayers are with him. I hope he is feeling comfortable. And yes, UNR I think someday you will have that one experience that you just know doesn't have that natural explanation for it..........and i really hope you share it with us. I promise, no one will say "I told you so"!

I imagine UNR would be on here like a shot telling us! I promise I won't say 'I told you so' either. Gosh, it would be hard though wouldn't it scary? Classic Smile

I would love to try it out. Wow, can it be done by the daytime. I'm way too much of a scaredy cat to do it at night.

Does this make it less real?
Does being able to identify things in the real world prove that you are out of your body? For example, people can do things like remote viewing, where they are able to identify distant objects etc. without leaving the body.

I think Astral Travel is great and very real, I just don't think we really leave the body. Everything we experience is very real, but one does not need to leave their body to experience the outside world. Make sense?

I bottled it though, as i had a very strange dream the morning after doing my astral travel. I dreamt that an old woman was sat on my bed looking at me. She had something like a veil draping over her head. Her eyes were dark and she said in a horrible voice, 'I can't wait for tomorrow night.'

I was planning on astral travellling that night, not 'tomorrow night' as the woman in the dream had said. Anyway, it was enough to put me off at the time, but lately i've wanted to try it again. Don't think i dare though.

For those who do this and believe that they are traveling outside their bodies I suggest a small experiment:

When you lay down have someone else place an object somewhere in the room. It must be something that you do not know that is you dont know what was chosen. OR have that person write something on a card or sheet of paper and place it upon something.

Next - when you travel 'out of your body' go over and read the note or check to see what object was placed there. If you did in deed leave your body and float around the room you should have no problem at all in dong this.

Similar "test" have been done literally thousands of times in some major Universities and so far no one has ever beem able to do this simple task. In fact one University in California (can't recall the name now) was offering a huge cash reward for anyone who could do this.

If you don't know how to astral travel, try it this way, which i did and had a successful, but short (got a bit freaked, so cut it short) experience:

You need to have a peacefull environment when the kids are sound asleep and so is the dog.

Lay on your bed, preferably on your own. Close your eyes and start imagining your body is becoming gradually heavier and heavier. Imagine it being like a mound of heavy clay. Before long you will feel the sensation of being so heavy you could sink into the bed. Once you get this feeling, you are able to astral travel (you'll realise why i said that if you experience this). Now imagine feathers floating upwards from your heavy body.

Keep the thought of feathers floating upwards. Say it to yourself in your mind over and over. Don't be alarmed when all of a sudden you can see even though you haven't opened your eyes in your body, which will now be laying on the bed with you out of it.

Try not to get freaked out as i did when i astral travelled. I was floating right up to the ceiling and suddenly became scared that i was going to enter the darkness of the loft. I ended up back in my body because of that thought. The strange thing was i couldn't move once i was back in my body for a few seconds, like the astral me had not quite got back in properly yet.

Anyway, as you realise that you are floating up, try to think of a place you would like to be and you will suddenly be there, like sitting on a beach in the Bahamas, or in the president's office. You can literally go wherever you like.

Whoever is up for this, then we could all try and do it at the same time, but i realise that may not be posssible.

I particularly would like UglyNRude to try this out Devil Smiley

Does anyone have any reasons they think astral travel is wrong?

eyepriestess,

I've never seen anything in the Bible about astral travel is wrong. Actually, I think that John the Revelator had an experience that he described as being in a Heavenly place in actuality or he was there only in spirit. He said he was unable to tell which was true. How is that for ambiguous? I have always believed he was there in spirit. Blueud

I think this would be more of a self hypnosis then an Astral Projection experiment.
I mean relaxing in bed and thinking of your self getting lighter and lighter is Self hypnosis 101. It is more possible that you are so relaxed you actually "Feel like you are floating" Astral projection is a form of meditation and some claim takes many years to achieve.. I mean to be the Devils advocate here there is no real proof Astral Projection even exists. However I do believe in deep meditation personally and AP but I just dont think it can be achieved in this manner.

RE: Astral Travel Experiment - Try It Out
I've had one OBE. To make a long story short, I learned a couple of things from a Tai Chi master who appeared on a PBS program. I'm not comparing myself to him.

I returned home from work one day many years ago with a disabling Migraine Headache. Other parts of my body were hurting as well for some reason. All I could think about was "getting out of my body to escape the awful pain."

I focused all my attention on my abdomen/bowels, which is considered by the original Christians to be the seat of our emotions. Once I had a clear awareness of that part of my body, I started slightly moving my focus up vertically through my body as I was sitting up in bed.

To be clear, I was focusing on my "awareness" of my body, sensing everything in each movement upward..., sensing only what I was feeling in that particular spot in my body..., losing sensation of the lower places I just moved away from.

All my awareness eventually was inside my head. It felt like all the nerves in my body had been brought along into my head. I could feel no pain from my body, or anything else for that matter. It was like "all of me" was inside my head, with a slight sensation of the top of my head. Inside my head seemed like I was in a cavity, preparing to exit, no longer aware or feeling the rest of my body.

Suddenly, I was aware of being just above my head, seeing the top of my head and the rest of the room. At this point I felt like I was continuing to drift slowly toward the ceiling. I was a little worried because someone suggested that if we practiced leaving our body, another spirit might enter during our absence. So I cut the trip short, and slowly descended into my head again, and regained my feeling of my whole body. The headache was nearly totally gone..., just a slight pain now.

I didn't leave the bedroom, but I did leave my body. I could do it again at will, but I'm not going to leave my body wide open for just any other spirit to enter. I guess you could call me a "home body" of sorts.

None of what I've said is an exaggeration or imagination and especially not a lie. I'm just saying I believe we can exit our body, but I know nothing of the risks being taken in the process. I wish you all well. I don't practice this myself. Icontexto-emoticons-07-032x032
